JETS Architecture
Connecting People & Systems for Elevated Outcomes Throughout the Continuum of Care
JETS Federation:
Standardized Interoperability for Joint Medical Training
JETS is a standardized architecture that enables interoperability among medical simulation training systems. JETS creates federations with partcipating systems, called federates. These federates can be medical simulators, learning management systems, after action review systems, virtual and augmented reality systems, serious games, or any other system used in medical training
IEEE Standard
JETS is based on IEEE 1516-2010 standard. HLA is a real-time publish and subscribe architecture capable of supporting massive federations.
Open Source
JETS core components are open source. It uses Portico RTI as the central traffic manager and the MMS FOM as the data dictionary. The MMS FOM can be found on GitHub:
Federation Object Model
JETS uses the Medical Modeling and Simulation (MMS) Federation Object Model (FOM) to define the data sent and received by all systems on the federation. The MMS FOM includes data such as vital signs, events, treatments, injuries, neurological scales, patient handoff messages, and patient forms. It also includes simulation control features to start, stop, pause, or resume systems on a federation.
Integrating with JETS
Your system can integrate with JETS in three ways. If you’re already familiar with the HLA standard, you can serialize the MMS FOM for direct integration. Otherwise, your system can integrate through custom C#/C++/Java libraries to create a real-time HLA connection, or through the JETS developer package GraphQL API. JETS can support all live, virtual, constructive, and gaming (LVCG) simulation systems. Contact IVIR for more information on integrating your system with JETS.
Capture Training Data
With the JETS Data Recorder, you can capture all simulation data created during your training exercises. Combine this with an integrated Learning Management System (LMS) or assessment system like TrACER to get a full view of learner performance tied to patient outcomes.
Improve and Expand Medical Training
JETS improves medical training by providing environments to support large scale training exercises, including mult-echelon training with patient handoffs, mass casualty training with thousands of patients, or customized modular training systems to creat the “best in class” system of systems to support your training needs.
