JETS IN ACTION
JETS and IVIR’s supporting software systems can be used to support a variety of training experiences from small single patient setups to large distributed federations.
The experiences below illustrate ways JETS can support your medical simulation and training needs.
Single-Site, Offline Federation
JETS can be operated in a fully offline environment for single-site training event. This experience is designed to accommodate environments that do not have internet access. All systems on a local federation must be connected to a local area network so they can communicate with each other. Data from this environment can be saved in the Data Recorder or a Learner Record Store (LRS) for later distribution to a centralized location.
Multi-Site Distributed Federation
A JETS federation can be distributed across multiple sites. This requires all sites to have internet access and the ability to connect to a central device (such as a cloud server) that hosts the Portico WAN Router. This setup allows multiple sites to participate in the same training event, such as practicing a patient handoff from combat medics to flight medics. This experience can also support remote instruction, where an operator at one site can remotely control JETS-enabled simulators at another site through the MMS Control software.
Scalable Patient Capacity and Fidelity
JETS and MMS Control can support any federation size, from a single patient scenario to a large scale mass casualty event with over 100 patients. Each patient may be simulated with several modules across multiple modalities. The patients can be a mix of high and low fidelity simulators and can even include standardized patients. Multiple patients can all be modeled at once or they can be added slowly over time to the same federation. Using MMS Control, one patient can be digitally transferred through multiple simulators to track the patient status through all echelons of care. No special configuration is required regardless of whether or not the training event is a single patient or multi-patient scenario.
Integration with Non-Medical Simulation Systems
JETS has been used to integrate medical simulation systems with tactical and logistics simulation systems. JETS can be used to track device and supply usage as treatments and medications are administered, which can be fed into a logistics system that is simulating a larger supply chain event. You can also use the logistics systems to providing realistic supply limits for your providers, impacting their decision making process. JETS has also been used to combine medical and tactical simulations: the tactical system can dictate MEDEVAC timelines while the medical simulation can provide realistic patient status updates back to the tactical system.
